Stop Printing Things Just to Sign Them

The print-sign-scan loop is the worst part of paperwork. You need a printer with ink, a scanner or a steady hand with a phone camera, and the result is a crooked, grey, oversized file that looks worse than the original.

Signing the PDF directly skips all of it. You place your signature onto the page and export a clean PDF at full quality — usually in under a minute.

Three Ways to Add Your Signature

The Sign PDF tool gives you three, because people want different things.

Draw it. Sign with a mouse, trackpad or finger. On a phone or tablet this is genuinely close to signing on paper, and it is the best option if you want the signature to look handwritten.

Type it. Type your name and pick a handwriting-style font. It is fast and perfectly legible, and it is fine for internal documents, forms and approvals.

Upload it. Sign a blank sheet of white paper, photograph it, and upload the image. This gives you your real signature at full fidelity, and you can reuse the same file every time. For the cleanest result, use good light and crop close before uploading.

How to Sign a PDF

Step 1: Open the Sign PDF tool and add your document.

Step 2: Create your signature by drawing, typing or uploading.

Step 3: Drag the signature to where it belongs on the page and resize it. The live preview shows exactly how it will look, so you can line it up with the signature line rather than guessing.

Step 4: Move to the right page if the document is long, place it, and download the signed PDF.

Your Document Never Leaves Your Browser

Everything happens on your own machine. The PDF is opened, rendered and rewritten in your browser — it is never uploaded to a server and never stored anywhere. For contracts, offer letters, tenancy agreements, bank forms and anything with personal data on it, that is the difference that matters.

Is an Electronic Signature Legally Valid?

In most countries, yes, for most everyday documents. Electronic signatures are recognised under laws such as the ESIGN Act and UETA in the United States and eIDAS in the European Union, and a typed or drawn signature is routinely accepted for contracts, invoices, consent forms and internal approvals.

There are exceptions. Wills, some property transfers, court filings and certain notarised documents may require a wet signature or a qualified digital certificate. This tool adds a visible signature image, not a cryptographic digital certificate — which is what the vast majority of documents actually ask for, but not what a court filing may demand. If a document specifically requires a certified digital signature, check the requirement before relying on any free tool.

Practical Tips

  • Match the ink colour. Black reads as formal; blue helps a signature stand out from printed black text and looks less like a photocopy.
  • Do not oversize it. A signature roughly the height of the signature line looks right. Enormous signatures look like a mistake.
  • Fill the form fields first. Complete any text with your PDF reader before signing, so nothing shifts afterwards.
  • Keep your signature file. If you uploaded a photo of your signature, save it — you will want it again.

Before and After

If the finished PDF is too large to email, run it through Compress PDF. If you need to combine the signed document with attachments, use Merge PDF, which lets you set the exact page order.
