Why Resize Images?
Different places need different image sizes. A 4000-pixel-wide phone photo is overkill for a profile picture and far too heavy for a web page. Resizing to the right dimensions makes images load faster, fit correctly, and meet upload requirements.
Common reasons:
- Meeting social media size requirements
- Creating a profile or avatar image
- Speeding up a website by serving smaller images
- Fitting an image into a specific layout slot
Common Image Sizes (Reference)
| Use | Recommended Size |
|---|---|
| Instagram post (square) | 1080 × 1080 px |
| Instagram story | 1080 × 1920 px |
| Facebook cover | 820 × 312 px |
| YouTube thumbnail | 1280 × 720 px |
| Profile avatar | 400 × 400 px |
